Happy 4th Anniversary The Super Organizer
Today is my 4th anniversary as an official, legal, full fledged business! I've been IN the business longer than that, but four years I became a business. The Super Organizer is now in several states (and growing). This last year was the biggest year for the Super Organizer! I become a Certified Life Coach. I started this blog and my other blog, TheSuperorganizeruniverse.com. Ive stepped up my social media game on Twitter (@TheSuperO) and on Facebook (TheSuperOrganizer). I've joined the International Coach Federation and the National Association of Professional Organizers. I joined the Board of Directors of the SF Church of Compassion. I am working with great people and companies. And of course my clients!!!
I LOVE my clients!!! I would be NOTHING without them! Literally! I learn from them everyday! They make ME a better person! I enjoy helping them find paths to success! It is so rewarding!
I look foward to 2015! I have so many plans. I have things to accomplish and I have some stuff I will be releasing next year! I am one of the most fortunate people on the planet. I LOVE my profession!
Thank You all for the support these past 4 years!

But I'm A Collector
I collect piggy banks and 2 dollar bills. That's it! I used to collect magazines. That took up too much space and I had to get rid of them, My piggy banks are manageable and my 2 dollar bills are in ONE spot. I know so many people who say they are a collector and their "collections" are taking over their house. Unless you have space for everything and it's not CLUTTERING your house, I invite you to take a good look at your stuff.
One suggestion is to bring your whole collections out onto on place to look at and assess. Can you successfully store your collections in a space? Are some collections done and not going to grow? Have you been collecting something for years but your hearts not in it? (Maybe its time to give away or sell the collection.) Are you really collecting or is that an excuse to just buy stuff?
That last question is something I encounter a lot in my practice. "I'm depressed, so I shop." Or I have clients whose only "connection" to the stuff is superficial NOT passionate. Sentimentality is another reason for collecting and/or keeping stuff. Second hand collections! "It was my grandfathers. I haven't had the heart to get rid of them." Between Craigslist and EBAY and garage sales, there is a place to sell stuff and get it out of your house.
The point is to get it OUT of your house. I understand collecting. You just don't want your collections to run you out of your house.

Do Try This At Home
Why there is clutter in the first place is psychological. It is important to find out WHY but it is also important to physically DO something about it. My assignment to you is to do something SMALL. I found that the smallest things can yield the biggest satisfactions! Try one of the following to start:
Clear off and make your bed.
Clear out the kitchen or bathroom sink . Make it shine.
Take all dirty clothes off the floor and put in a hamper or bag or box.
Do the same with kid toys.
Clean your mirrors.
Start with something small. If you have floor space, vacuum or sweep it. THAT can really change the look of a room.

Being Cluttered Is Emptying Your Bank Account
Clutter is expensive! Being cluttered can empty out your wallet or pocketbook. How? Let me give an example:
I go outside and I need to replace the bulbs in my motion sensor lights. If I am organized, then I know exactly where to go and find the replacement bulbs. If I'm a cluttered, unorganized person, then I won't know where they are! It may be too full in the spaces to even go through the piles of stuff to find them. So what would happen is that I go out and buy bulbs. I just spent unnecessary money.
Times are tough. I know that I'm counting EVERY penny! Being organized saves me money! Another reason to declutter and get organized!

Crock Pots Are Good For Busy Lives!
You're busy! Or you're not the greatest cook. I recommend the Crock Pot! Crock Pots and Slow Cookers are great! They range in price and size. I got mine from Big Lots for $20 bucks! I remember when I was a kid and my mom would pull out the big, heavy crock pot during the winter time and make stews and soups. Recently I decided to get one myself and I am so glad I did! It reminds me of my childhood and the wonderful smell of whatever is cooking.
You can make all kinds of stuff in a Crock Pot and the best part is that you do very little. You get the ingredients of whatever you are making and throw it in and let it slow cook all day. After you are done, you have food for days. You can focus on other things while its cooking, like organizing a closet. hehe...

Being Thankful Today and Everyday!
Today it is Thanksgiving here in America. Much attention is paid to the food (and I do love the food.) especially the Turkey! I'd like to take the time to be thankful today!
I am thankful for the life that I have and I am creating.
I am thankful of the opportunity to bring this blog to you and the rest of the world. I am appreciative of the chance to share what I know and what I learn. Knowledge makes the world run and giving back makes the world go round.

Are You Ready For Thanksgiving?
Thanksgiving is in a few days!
Are you ready?
I am!
And I am calm.
How am I calm during what is considered a stressful time? I planned!
I am the cook for the family for Thanksgiving. After a few stress filled holidays, I learned to create a binder. My binder consists of:
Family recipes
My recipes
A timeline of events (which can be modified)
Inventory of thanksgiving related supplies AFTER thanksgiving (so I know what to buy later)
Also I have a container filled with Thanksgiving related supplies.
I usually buy my food supplies a week before Thanksgiving. Sometimes I have many of the ingredients already. I open the binder and look in the kitchen and pull out what i have already. And shop for what I need.
All of these things has made my life easier for Thanksgiving. Maybe this would work for you too!!
Its not too late to start the process.

The Dollar Stores Have Some Great Products For Organizing
I was with my mother the other day and she likes to shop at Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, 99 cent stores, and Big Lots. They are inexpensive places and if you are looking for organizing products, there are some useful things there.
In this case, I am talking about drawer organization. I bought some plastic baskets (see above) and they really work!

E is for Egg Cartons
I am all about re purposing items. For one, it helps with not bringing MORE items into a space. Take Egg Cartons for instance. Some farmers markets will let you bring in empty egg cartons to refill with eggs.
Another use for egg cartons is for storage! You can use them to store office supplies like paper clips, rubber bands, staples, etc. They can be a great jewelry organizer, especially earrings and rings.
You can use them to hold paint or other crafting supplies when the kids are working on school projects.
Basically cut off the top part and use the bottom half for storage and organization.

Where To Keep Cleaning Supplies
I like my supplies to be near to me. I like to have them easily accessible. It increases the chances that I will clean. I have cleaning supplies in my bathroom. I have my kitchen related cleaning supplies in my kitchen. And I have some multipurpose cleaning supplies in the service porch/mudroom/utility room/laundry room (whatever you call it).
I don't want to have to go far to clean a space. I want to be IN the room already and just grab what I need.

A Drawer of Shoes
Here is another idea for your shoes: drawers. Shoes in drawers. Its a great alternative to having them on the floor. Or if you don't have extra room for shoe racks. I have a client doesn't like to see their appliances, so I suggested this for her closet and she loved it!

I Can't Peel The Label Off!
I like to pass on solutions to life's everyday issues. Also I like to reuse items and give them a second life. One thing that can be annoying is getting labels off jars and cans. One good way to get labels off is to first fill the jars with hot water, let them soak a few minutes, and while the hot water is in the jar, just peel the label off.

Product I Like: simplehuman Bt1028 Twin Wall Mount Shampoo & Soap Dispenser, 15 oz.
I'm always looking for products that can help in the reduction of clutter. Bathrooms are a clutter magnet, especially with all the hair and skin products with use.
The simplehuman wall mount pump eliminates bottle clutter from your shower and helps keep everything you need within easy reach. The ergonomic t-bar lever works with your natural grip for precise, one-handed dispensing and removable hooks hold a razor, loofah or other accessories. Installs easily with adhesive strips and silicone glue (included).
I think it is a great product if you have small children. You can teach them how to use this and its a lot less mess than having bottles everywhere. AND its sleek in design, so you don't have to give up style! They around between $35 and $50 dollars and can be found at many major retailers like MACYS and Bed Bath and Beyond. Online or instore.

M is for Movable Storage
I love the idea of having storage on wheels. Its easy to move around. You can move it where you need it. Its also easy to use while organizing. They are can be used AS furniture pieces too. Rolling carts with coordinating boxes on them are a great idea. You can label the boxes. You can use decorative boxes. So the cart/boxes can match the decor of your room or office.

My Favorite Part of Halloween
The dressing up can be fun. Going to a party can be great. But for me its one of the two days out of the year (Easter is the other) that I get to indulge in my favorite...the candy!
I'm a fan of Halloween candy. I don't eat much candy the rest of the year. But for some reason eating candy on Halloween makes me happy.
So if you are taking the kids treat or treating, please be careful and safe. Check the candy before they eat it. Have fun and save some candy for me....
Go For IT!!!
Saw this quote online and it didn't say who said it but I LOVE it! So I feel I need to share it:
It is such a basic sounding quote YET it's totally true. AS my mother has always said, " A closed mouth does not get fed."

A Money and Time Saving Idea For The Look Of Your Home!
Here is a tip that is a money saver AND good organizational tool:
Instead of buying whole new sets of home accessories and/or repainting every year or spending lots of time and money of changing the look of a space, redecorate your room in the spring and fall by changing out your comforter and throw pillows. You get to "redecorate" and no money is spent. Plus, it extends the life of your items. And you'll only need one storage bin to hold the items.
You can do the same in the bathroom with a change of the shower curtain and rugs. I would do yellow in the spring and summer and blue in the fall and winter.
Depending on wear and tear, you can do this for several years and sesasons.
