Happy 4th Anniversary The Super Organizer

Today is my 4th anniversary as an official, legal, full fledged business! I've been IN the business longer than that, but four years I became a business. The Super Organizer is now in several states (and growing). This last year was the biggest year for the Super Organizer! I become a Certified Life Coach. I started this blog and my other blog, TheSuperorganizeruniverse.com. Ive stepped up my social media game on Twitter (@TheSuperO) and on Facebook (TheSuperOrganizer).  I've joined the International Coach Federation and the National Association of Professional Organizers. I joined the Board of Directors of the SF Church of Compassion. I am working with great people and companies. And of course my clients!!!

I LOVE my clients!!! I would be NOTHING without them! Literally! I learn from them everyday! They make ME a better person! I enjoy helping them find paths to success! It is so rewarding!

I look foward to 2015! I have so many plans. I have things to accomplish and I have some stuff I will be releasing next year! I am one of the most fortunate people on the planet. I LOVE my profession!

Thank You all for the support these past 4 years!

But I'm A Collector

I collect piggy banks and 2 dollar bills. That's it! I used to collect magazines. That took up too much space and I had to get rid of them, My piggy banks are manageable and my 2 dollar bills are in ONE spot. I know so many people who say they are a collector and their "collections" are taking over their house. Unless you have space for everything and it's not CLUTTERING your house, I invite you to take a good look at your stuff.

One suggestion is to bring your whole collections out onto on place to look at and assess. Can you successfully store your collections in a space? Are some collections done and not going to grow? Have you been collecting something for years but your hearts not in it? (Maybe its time to give away or sell the collection.) Are you really collecting or is that an excuse to just buy stuff?

That last question is something I encounter a lot in my practice. "I'm depressed, so I shop." Or I have clients whose only "connection" to the stuff is superficial NOT passionate.  Sentimentality is another reason for collecting and/or keeping stuff. Second  hand collections! "It was my grandfathers. I haven't had the heart to get rid of them." Between Craigslist and EBAY and garage sales, there is a place to sell stuff and get it out of your house.

The point is to get it OUT of your house. I understand collecting. You just don't want your collections to run you out of your house.

Do Try This At Home

Clutter doesn't happen overnight. It has beginnings. By the time you are looking at your space, its cluttered! It's not the end of the world. It CAN be fixed! YOU can fix it!

Why there is clutter in the first place is psychological. It is important to find out WHY but it is also important to physically DO something about it. My assignment to you is to do something SMALL. I found that the smallest things can yield the biggest satisfactions! Try one of the following to start:

Clear off and make your bed.
Clear out the kitchen or bathroom sink . Make it shine.
Take all dirty clothes off the floor and put in a hamper or bag or box.
Do the same with kid toys.
Clean your mirrors.

Start with something small. If you have floor space, vacuum or sweep it. THAT can really change the look of a room.

Being Cluttered Is Emptying Your Bank Account

Clutter is expensive! Being cluttered can empty out your wallet or pocketbook. How?  Let me give an example:

I go outside and I need to replace the bulbs in my motion sensor lights. If I am organized, then I know exactly where to go and find the replacement bulbs. If I'm a cluttered, unorganized person, then I  won't know where they are! It may be too full in the spaces to even go through the piles of stuff to find them. So what would happen is that I go out and buy bulbs.  I just spent unnecessary money.

Times are tough. I know that I'm counting EVERY penny! Being organized saves me money! Another reason to declutter and get organized!

Crock Pots Are Good For Busy Lives!

You're busy! Or you're not the greatest cook.  I recommend the Crock Pot! Crock Pots and Slow Cookers are great! They range in price and size. I got mine from Big Lots for $20 bucks! I remember when I was a kid and my mom would pull out the big, heavy crock pot during the winter time and make stews and soups. Recently I decided to get one myself and I am so glad I did! It reminds me of my childhood and the wonderful smell of whatever is cooking.

You can make all kinds of stuff in a Crock Pot and the best part is that you do very little. You get the ingredients of whatever you are making and throw it in and let it slow cook all day. After you are done, you have food for days.  You can focus on other things while its cooking, like organizing a closet. hehe...

Being Thankful Every Day!

Sometimes it may be hard to remember to be thankful. There are times when its hard to find the way to feel thankful. I live in gratitude everyday. I am thankful every day. It took me over 40 years to get here. It was a long road but I am here. I am glad to be...here!

I invite all of you to every day think of ONE thing to be thankful for. IT could be ANYTHING. Thankful you woke up. Thankful for the coffee. Thankful for your children. Thankful for the jeans you're wearing. It doesn't matter. There is no restriction.

Another thing I am thankful for.....all of you who read my blogs! Thank You!

Dreams Can Become Realities!

I really like this quote! I find it educational. Its great to dream and have a dream. But to turn a dream into reality you have to create a plan to make it happen. The same applies to decluttering a space.  Create a list or step by step plan and it keeps you organized and the dream becomes attainable. It becomes real!

Organization Does Not Equal Perfection

THIS is a great quote by Christina Scalise! I COMPLETELY agree! Perfection is NEVER the goal but it is unattainable. You will drive yourself crazy trying to reach it! Organization is about finding efficient ways to do things that HELP your life run smoother!
